In 2016, STARC entered into a joint venture with Axens of France to form Axens Catalysts Arabia Ltd. which manufactures hydrotreating catalysts for the oil and gas industry. It is now the only local manufacturer of such material. In the same year, it was qualified as an approved supplier of catalysts to Saudi Aramco and has since supplied them with various types of catalysts.
Axens is also a world leader in process technology for the oil and gas sectors and has over the years supplied numerous licenses to Saudi Aramco and its joint ventures.
